Jed D. Melnick


Jed D. Melnick, Esq. is the Managing Mediator for the Weinstein Group, led by the Hon. Daniel Weinstein (Ret.) one of the nation’s preeminent mediators of complex civil disputes. Mr. Melnick has been involved in the mediation and successful resolution of hundreds of complex disputes with an aggregate value in the billions of dollars. He has mediated over 750 disputes, published articles on mediation, founded a nationally ranked dispute resolution journal and taught young mediators.

This year Mr. Melnick was selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” the only “Rising Star” in the Alternative Dispute Resolution category in Pennsylvania. Jed was also selected to the 2010 list of Pennsylvania “Lawyers on the Fast Track,” awarded by the Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly to 30 Pennsylvania lawyers under the age of 40.

-   Managing Mediator for The Weinstein Group that mediates cases with aggregate values of billions of dollars annually, while helping to design innovative processes tailored to unique, complex, and highly sensitive cases.

-   Lead and Primary Responsibility on numerous cases:

  • Lead role in settlement of Miller v. Dyadic International, Inc. et al.
  • Lead role in settlement of In Re: SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc.
  • Lead role in settlement of In Re: Ionatron, Inc.
  • Lead role in settlement of In Re: StarTek Inc.
  • Lead role in settlement of In Re: Atlas Mining Company as well as related coverage litigation and employment claims.
  • Lead role in settlement of In Re: Lone Star Steakhouse and Saloon, Inc.
  • Lead role in successful mediation of coverage litigation surrounding the former Directors and Officers at Adelphia Communication Corp., as well as lead role in settling the class action and six opt-out cases against the former Adelphia Directors and Officers.
  • Primary responsibility for post-mediation follow up that led to 100 million dollar settlement of litigation brought by the trustee for the failed subprime lender American Business Financial Services, Inc., previously pending in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and brought against 4 Wall Street investment banks.
  • Primary responsibility for post-mediation follow-up that led to settlement in Fiduciary Counselors, Inc. v. Magnuson, leading the presiding Judge to comment on the record, “Judge expresses his thanks and appreciation to Judge Daniel Weinstein and Jed Melnick for all their intensive efforts to mediate settlement of this case.”
  • Primary responsibility for follow up leading to settlement in Sunoco, Inc. v. Epsilon previously pending in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
  • Primary responsibility for post-mediation follow-up that led to settlement of In Re: TeleTech, Inc., brought by the Coughlin Stoia office against TeleTech, Ernst & Young, and various underwriter defendants.
  • Part of team that settled Adelphia Communications Corp. v. Deloitte & Touche LLP, pending in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas
  • Lead role In Re Bradley Pharmaceutical Securities, Inc. Securities Litigation Civ. No. 05-1219
  • Representative from the Weinstein Team leading settlement efforts and working closely with Alabama District Court Judge Scott Coogler in a three-day mediation in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in MBUSI v. Cobasys.
