During 20 years of mediating complex cases all over the country and the world I have always wanted to create the ideal environment for mediation here in the heart of the Napa Valley. The new Center makes that vision possible and allows me to split my time between Napa and the JAMS New York and San Francisco offices.Lawyers and clients at the new Center have responded so far by being more focused and more cordial with each other and perhaps slightly more incentivised to reach agreement. Participants work very hard and settlements are aptly rewarded afterward with the finest wines at the tasting room.

In September 2010, Judge Weinstein and Jed Melnick settled the Adelphia Recovery Trust action against over 20 Financial Institutions, for 175 million dollars, leading to Judge McKenna of the Southern District of New York to state the following on the record: "THE COURT: Good morning. I cannot tell you how happy I am to see you all here today. I got the news yesterday from Jed Melnick that the parties had agreed in principle to the settlement and might come in today, and here you are. ...I really wanted to praise the work of Jed and Dan Weinstein. This has been a difficult case and... I have to praise everybody who has been involved in this case and mediators and counsel on both sides."
